St. Louis: The Bolozone!
by Robert Wildwood
How long have i been in St. Louis, damn, a week now. Continuing on with my summer writing traveling adventure retreat, the novel i started this winter continues, i change the setting of the story to follow where i am at in reality. Right now the characters in the novel are in St. Louis, their boat tied up on the river. It’s a fun way to write, and feels much more real than following an outline, forcing the story to go in some direction i determined in the past. I can do anything with the story. I’m into it.
Holed up in the boat kid’s suite here at the Bolozone where the electronic musical instrument pedal shop used to be. Whacking on the typewriter. Sometimes Alyssa or BIlly come and find me, make me eat food. Sometimes the cat, Cookies, comes to visit me. The fastest cat ever. Lot of varmits last night tho, dog across the alley kept parking at something that was rummaging around, a racoon? Possum? In the night, sleeping on this futon which lays on the floor, i woke up as something ran across my neck, leaving mildly burning claw marks. Fucking mouse! Rat! Tiny demon! Cookies! Where were you when i needed you? Why would a mouse do that, some kind of a dare?. Like the other mouse said, do it! He’s asleep, he wont get you, just run across his neck!
The crew of The Snowball is comming back tomorrow. Good. I’m about to get a job and just settle down here. Which wouldn’t be so bad i think. Many thanks to Dan, Alyssa, Billy, and everyone else in St. Louis who helped us out.
theres a mouse that lives in my room, in the chair right by my sleeping area. i can hear it gnawing at nite by my head as i fall asleep. i saw it on my chair when i came home today, its really cute. its not afraid of me, but ayla wants to eat it. the idea of the mice daring one another to walk across you while you sleep made me smile.
